Sony Pal has a slow beginning in ratings and Sinhasan Battisi top rated show on Sony Pal

The GEC launched with the tagline Yeh Pal Hamara Hai had a very bad beginning as the shows couldn’t appeal to Indian audiences.There are complaints received from viewers that most of the shows airing on the channel have already been seen on other GEC’s and there are issues regarding the distribution of the channel.

Sony Pal’s highest rated show is ‘Sinhasan Battisi’ that rated 190 TVTs in its opening week. It was followed by ‘Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi’ with 103 TVTs.

On the bottom line,many feel that the channel creative team has copy pasted content from other channel’s shows.

When TRP pressure causes harm to the shows storyline

TRP pressure is more stressing than a exam for the makers,who in a haste of getting TRP’s forget the attachment fans have to their created show and characters.Many feel that the makers are not ready to experiment but it’s the channels not willing to cater some fresh stories to the audience.

Let’s take examples from 2014 :

Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon had a different story line based on Bollywood initially,that was backed up by great dialogues and a strong script with great performances by Drashti Dhami and Vivian Dsena. In 2014,TRP pressure by the channel affected the shows storyline and fans were upset with the death of characters such as RK and Madhubala.

Rangrasiya in its initial days had a strong storyline and excellent production value but a different concept show couldn’t be digested by the TRP audience, who need heavy drama’s with major twist.Rangrasiya’s visual graphics in the initial days were simply outstanding and looked like a film on TV.Sanaya Irani and Ashish Sharma’s chemistry added to the shows popularity.

Saraswatichandra had one of the most strong opening for a Star Plus show.Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s direction had charmed the audiences supported by a strong script and storyline.Currently the show is dipping in the TRP chart.

While one show that clicked with the audience after many revamps was Qabool Hai,which is still garnering decent ratings.

Mahabharat’s closure affects Star Plus and Udaan fails to increase Colors GVM

According to latest reports from TAM India,Star Plus has seen a huge ratings fall with the closure of Mahabharat. The GEC has dropped from 689 GVM to 559 GVM.Colors TV has dropped from 411 GVM to 377 GVM.

Kaun Banega Crorepati grand opening has connected well with the audience and it has topped the weekend non fiction line up of shows on GEC’s.The show has helped defeat SAB TV and Life OK in this week’s rating. Zindagi is stuck at 26 GVM this week again but Zee assures that the channel will take time to connect with the audience.Life OK has dropped from 302 GVM to 287 GVM.

Udaan on Colors TV has failed to make a splash with over lakhs spend on the promotions and production of the show ,it didn’t boost Colors TV ratings like the opening of Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon in 2012.

Sponsors disappointed with The Anupan Kher Show on Colors TV

The Anupam Kher Show,which airs on Colors TV at the 8pm slot on every Sunday of the week was a experimental concept but sadly it couldn’t prove it self on the TRP chart.Though the channel took a huge risk with the talk show as it didn’t have any controversy and only showcased the struggle of celebrities.

Sponsors were asked a premium price by the channel but some have backed out as the ratings are too low.The show couldn’t cross 2.0 TRP even with over crores spent on the promotion of the show.

The show was a light hearted and emotional show,which was a refreshing experience on TV but the TRP audience has rejected the show.

Tumhari Pakhi fails to get the desired ratings

Tumhari Pakhi was one of the most loved Life OK show as it featured the popular onscreen couple Anshuman and Pakhi played by Iqbal Khan and Shraddha Arya.Sadly,the show is failing miserably in the TRP chart and viewers of the show are waiting for the show to end.What led to this state of this show? (Read on to find out more)

Iqbal Khan’s exit from the show didn’t prove to be beneficial as expected and the makers irrational behavior added to the shows dismissal ratings.The production house issued a article against Iqbal Khan on a media site but none of the media attention helped the show in getting ratings.The current story line is not attracting the audience and the ratings to show the same.

It’s confirmed that the show is not going to receive any extension after the 6 months extension, it received few months back.Time will tell if the show can survive or get axed with Life OK’s upcoming revamp.
